KUALA LUMPUR, July 13- A lecturer from the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan Salit received the ‘Outstanding Technical Paper Award 2016’ from the Society of Automotive Engineers International Malaysia (SAE International Malaysia) today.

He received the award for his paper entitled ‘Implementation of the Expert Decision System for Environmental Assessment in Composite Materials Selection for Automotive Components’ which was published in the Journal of Cleaner Production 2015. 

He received a certificate and RM1,000 which were presented at the 2^nd International Conference on Sustainable Mobility (ICSM 2017) SAE International Malaysia at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The award was given for the best technical paper presented by a member of SAE. It must be based on the work done by the lead author on any topics related directly or indirectly to automotive applications.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan expressed his gratitude to receive the award as he was also selected as a Fellow of International SAE in 2015.

“I was surprised to know that I won the award,” said Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan.

He also expressed his hope that the award would enhance the image of UPM at the national and international levels.
