Putra Science Park (PSP)

PSP is based on the concept of a knowledge community that combines all the components present on campus — which encompasses human resources, expertise, facilities, equipment, training and R&D (research and development) findings — strategically with external components like incubators, funds, entrepreneurs, business entities, local authorities and the community.

PSP serves to promote commercial development technologies, coordinate the placement of research facilities, monitor technology transfer, assist the placement of incubators, promote UPM as a centre for eco-tourism activities, and help provide expertise to potential entrepreneurs.

 

Functions of Putra Science Park
 

PSP has 3 divisions whereby each of them is leaded by a Deputy Director who is responsible to the Director of PSP in planning and ensuring that the implementation of all activities are conducted according to each division. PSP Administration Office supports the functions of each division by coordinating administrative activities of the Putra Science Park Office and related activities.
 

Intellectual Property Division 

Conducts intellectual property protection for UPM and becomes the middle entity between UPM and UPM Holdings regarding commercialisation. 
  1. Application for intellectual property protection in UPM – patent, new plant varieties, copyright and trademark
  2. Application for commercialised technologies
 

Research and Innovation Promotion Division 

Manages research and innovation promotion activities of UPM to achieve recognitions and promotions to the public/industry.
  1. Participates in research exhibitions/competitions – national and international 
  2. Participates in research awards 
  3. Research and innovation promotion in the media 
 

Agribio Resources Division 

One-stop data and information centre regarding specimen of agribio resources besides maintaining living collections and the museum. 
  1. Collects specimen data from all over UPM – ARMS
  2. A source of reference for all the flora and fauna species in UPM
  3. Manages Museum of Nature (around UPM)
  

PSP Administration Division

 Coordinates administrative activities in the Putra Science Park Office and related activities.
  1. Promotes professional services (research facilities offered by UPM) 
  2. Manages edu-tourism for visitors
  3. Manages office administration
